Going Out To Dinner?

Have you heard about Out To Dinner?  Zach Wahls, author of My Two Moms came up with the idea.

The basic premise is simple: it is easy to fear the unknown, but when you get to know someone, you realize they aren’t so different.  Even if they are gay/straight/insert “other” here.  It’s easy to say, but maybe hard to do: an ally hosts a dinner where invites go out to both openly out people and some straight people on the fence about homosexuality.  The point isn’t to talk about sex, politics, religion, or other hot topics.  It’s just to have a meal together.  Because eating is fun, and it is harder to hate when you can put a face and maybe a friendship behind that feeling.

Did you know, Mason has an awesome, dedicated police officer, Michael Guston, serving as a liaison to the department?

It’s true!  As part of Mason’s dedication to a safer, more diverse, more welcoming campus, the police department created the position and asked Officer Guston to serve.

Make sure to say “Hi” when you see him around.  A great member of the Out/Ally community here at Mason!
